When I was a kid, teachers used to tell us about this "red button", located somewhere in the world, wich was supposed to make the world end via projectiles, or something like that. Of course I thought that was true. So if it was, where's that button? What does it do exactly? Thanks!

It was a phrase used during the "cold war"
It was a proverbial button on the President's desk, which launches nuclear weapons and starts World War Three.
We always hoped he would never "press the red button", and comedy shows would allude to the President or caretaker or or anyone or some creature pressing it frivolously or accidentally. In reality, its a metaphor to the same function, the President or influential people starting it all off.

If it exists.....it probably is owned by NORAD. What does it do? I would think it sets off the largest most powerful Nuclear warhead into the sky on it's way to kick some * * * *
