You can put waterproofing on it, but you can't stain it probably for a year. I don't recommend sanding it either because the chemicals in the wood are rough on the body

There is no specific time period, the wood simply has to dry out some before using a stain.

It is wise to leave the wood totally bear for a year alot of the lumber used to build has alot of moisture in it so if you put anything on it your sealing in the moisture and just asking for it to rot. wait a year then stain it. wait a month then seal it..

Yes you can do it now, Just be sure to use an acrylic base(water-base) type stain. I recommend Cabots.
