When I lived in Bakersfield many of the locals thought I was from somewhere back east. I pronounce "either" and "neither" with the softer long "e" sound like "eye-thur". I pronounce "Nevada" "nay-vah-dah" which I guess is more Spanish.
Here in the Pacific Northwest people don't ask me about my "accent", so I guess I sound like a Northwesterner.
Many years ago while visiting in Germany I struck up a conversation with some Canadians who thought for sure I was from some suburb of Toronto! Must have been those soft, long vowel sounds in my "either" and "neither".
Many American accents are harsh and nasal, especially those from the upper Midwest.

I worked in a call center for over 5 years, most people said that I have a slight southern accent.

I'm from Connecticut, and I don't recall anyone ever commenting on my accent. The closest I came was was when I lived in Pittsburgh - I was frequently told I sounded "polite".
Is that considered an accent?

This is going to sound REALLY strange, but every time I've gone to New York on vacation, I've been told that I have a "Florida Girl" accent, whatever THAT is - I never asked!

Mine is that twangy nasal 'low German' accent. I have tried to get rid of it. I was raised speaking another language and that has a profound effect on speech patterns. My English is good, but it is obvious it is not my first language. (Which makes me ask this...Why don't I have an accent when I sing?)

Other people just say that I have a Wisconsin accent because my family is from Wisconsin. I can't tell unless I try though.

A Pennsylvanian one. After I say hammer, forehead, and orange I get told that. I'm not exactly sure what a "Pennsylvanian" accent is, but I grew up and live in PA and I'm constantly told that.
