Tell them that you have other friends that are wanting to plan a visit very soon and that you need to know how long they will be staying so that your other friends can plan their trip. This will make the current guests obligated to hit the road.
If the guests are over just for a bar-b-Q or something of that nature then start yawning and talking about plans you have early the next morning, that you have to get to bed soon. Both of these work well.

One of the answers I read was ""set your home on fire""
That is a bad wrong answer I have heard about enough people that died or got badly burned in house fires and I would not want any kid to see it and think it was funny or what they might should do, it is not. That is the wrong thing to do!
As to the question I don't know exactly, let them stay until they get tired or trust you enough to know that you are doing the right things for the right reasons and they can leave you alone now. That is the best that I can tell you.

After dinner, put the plates on the floor for the dog to lick clean. When he is done, put them immediately back in the cupboard. Make sure the guests witness this.
I have a feeling they will not be staying much longer.

Sometimes you have to be blunt & tell them that it's time for them to leave because you are tired & want to go to bed. Or if it's day time tell them that you have things to do & places to go & they are leaving. If hinting doesn't work that's what you are going to have to do. If you still have a problem just be persistent with them. Threaten you will never invite them back if they do not leave. If they insult you tell them "there's the door don't let it hit you in the ***.

Tough one.. I remember when my brother was younger, maybe 4 or 5 years old... Whenever we had a party or a gathering and it was getting close to his bedtime, he would go to the living room, kitchen and hallway turning all the lights off and extend his arm towards the door and tell them to get out!!... LOl... We never told him to do that but we never stopped him either--

Tell them you are going to...go to bed now you are so tired...or well, I'll see you at work Monday, thanks for coming...
Sometimes people want a hint. I know sometimes I want to go when I'm visiting, but the people won't stop entertaining and I can't figure a way out without telling a lie...
Another way is to set an end time..and let people know when it ends.

Insist they stay up late at night watching really bad movies with you. Sit really close to them and cough and fart alot. Wake them very early the next am and tell them you two need to get to the blood bank early to sell your plasma so you all have cash for the nights festivities of movies and beer.

If its late say you have to get up early and have to go to bed. If its daytime say oops I forgot I have to be at an appointment. Then run to your car and drive away as they clear out. When they are gone go back home and take a nap.

My husband had some friends over like that. When it would get time for them to go, I would pop in Teletubbies or Barney vids and blast the volume.

I have had these before--and it is bad.
Maybe you should rent that movie "House Guests". Stars Kirstie Alley----tell them you have a movie for everyone to watch---and maybe.....they will get the idea.
Good Luck.
