I never have had a bra fitting before so today I went to Victoria Secret for a bra but not planning on a fitting. One of the associates there walks up to me and asks when the last time I had a bra fitting(which is never) and if I would like one. I have heard that women should have this done even maybe once a year so I said yes. I thought she was going to put me in a private room for this but she didn't. She said I didn't have to take my clothes off. So she measured with my shirt(which was fitted) and my bra on. So wouldn't that be an incorrect measurement? I was wearing a padded bra too? Aren't bra fittings supposed to be without your bra so the measurement is accurate?

No I ended up not buying a bra there and she did come up with the size I am wearing now so I guess it was right cause my bra fits good. Just wasn't sure about the whole fitting ordeal and needed clarification. Thanx.

i actually never recommend having VS people doing sizing for me. for that very reason. go to a better department store like nordstroms. I had mine measured while wearing my own bra in fitting room. I don't recall if I had to remove my bra or not...its been awhile. but especially if you were had on a padded bra that size may be inaccurate.
nordstroms has the best service for bra fittings. they are extremely helpful in find the right bra for you and showing you the proper adjustments for straps and how the bra should fit you.

Yes it was. Any site or catalog that I have looked at always tells you to put on your best fitting bra and measure. Since your shirt was fitted, it would not have made a difference. I have had them take me into a fitting room if my shirt is heavy and measured with just the bra on.
Did you go by her suggestion for a bra and did it fit? I understand that 70% of women wear the wrong bra size.

Well, first of all, you generally have to be a woman. Secondly, you have to go to a bra fitting class. There's two (2) places they measure you, right around the biggest part of your boobs and right below the boobs, just chest. Using those figures, they can tell you exactly what size bra you need, both bra and cup size. In case you're wondering, yes, I've consulted a bra fitting specialist at one of our local stores.

Well let me ask you...did you end up buying a bra based on the measurements? And if so, does it fit properly? Every time I buy bras (only from VS) I get measured and never seem to have any issue with the size being incorrect.

That's how they did it for me as well, but I'm deffinatly not a B.
I really don't beleive in those fittings, I'm young and in a D cup. I went to JC Penny and some old woman measured me and told me I was a 32B, tried one on and fell out of it. So really I'd just say wear something comfortable and just keep trying bras on until they're comfortable and don't bulge, take a friend so she can tell you if it looks right...with the shirt overtop of course

Yeah, that doesn't sound right. I haven't had good luck with bra fittings at Victoria's Secret. I have friends with the same complaint. To get a good bra fitting go to a major department store.

not really when they measure you they are measueing around your ribs and right under the breast, you see, it shouldnt have affected it much. your cup size is usually determined by you, you should know what cup you are, but the fitting is for around which would be like 34 b the 34 would be your measurement around.

i don't think it would be very inaccurate unless you had a really, really padded bra on. i think it would be pretty accurate. i'd say to just go by what feels most comfortable.
