This is a perfect world. If greed is a part of it, then it is also perfect. Don`t want to get religious on you so I will simply say that what makes greed is habit forming. A habit of greed is not good. Why? Because in order to really enjoy life one needs to be balanced. From the point of view of food, a necessity, greed will usually cause obesity. Obesity will reduce the amount of sex you can enjoy. However, greed from the point of view of sex requires one to be in relatively good shape. Dilemma! One`s life now could be attracting unhappiness since the greed for food will be interfering with the greed for sex. I mean you know what people are like when they want sex and can`t get any, right? Greed for knowledge could get one to become addicted to (habits) reading books or websites. There just are so many fun things to do, how does one choose to homestead with just one or two when the whole bag is full of lovely presents?
Yes greed is good because it can get you to eventually wake up. You might have a sore stomach first, but who cares?
No, greed is not good if it means that one will miss out on so much fun stuff. I prefer the shortcut cuz I don`t like pain, but to each his/her own.

no... when you look at the global situation, the effects of greed become really amplified. most of the wealth in the world is controlled by a small group of people. these people greatly impact our lives through corporations. It seems as if they are industrious, but in reality they exploit resources, people, and undeveloped countries. Greed causes people to act without considering the best interests of others, this is what causes all the problems! If more individuals resisted opportunities to be greedy, the world would be a different place. we all matter.

I guess it depends on your definition of greed.
Some people might consider looking after yourself first greedy, but I don't think that you can properly care for others if you don't take care of yourself properly.
But in general, the best way to get more is to give more. Not that that should be one's primary reason for giving to others. Whether it be of the self, caring, time, money or whatever.
So, no, in general I would say greed is not good.

Greed can be good motivation. A want for material things is not bad, as long as the material things don't come before the people in your life. Everything in moderation.

Greed, meaning desire for more is to push for a better future. However, assuming the definition of 'excessive desire,' one cites Virgil: "Nothing in excess."
So my answer is: greed can be good, and not.

Ambition is good; greed is bad. There is a difference. Greed is considered a deadly sin because it can become all-consuming of one's self.

Greed is never having enough. Greed is the absence of satisfaction and contentment. Why one would choose to lead a live never feeling satisfied is beyond me.

I can think about an instance where greed is good. When I have a cold, I keep it to myself and am selfish not to spread it aournd.

There's a Delphic motto out there, probably hasn't been taught in a long while, except in abstract.
"Medan agan" - simply translated, it means "nothing to excess."
Greed itself is not a positive thing, but AMBITION is a positive thing, and something that should be strived for.
