Nancy Pelosi seems to believe that you can 'talk' everything out. That's why she supposedly went to Syria to 'talk'.

The idea that they would listen to any American over there, let alone a WOMAN, is a joke.

I don't think the Iranian leader is crazy; he seems rather intelligent. I watched the unedited version of his interview with Mike Wallace and he is thoughtful and makes excellent points about the west that they don't like to hear. He's not so willing to challenge the problems in his own land, of course.

The Iranian people, the vast majority, are freedom loving. They have a long history of self-rule and a sophisticated culture. Bush's actions only push the anti-government iranian majority towards the govt.. Talking with them is the only way to go.

And, instead of waiting for an apology for the seizure of our embassy and workers there, why not offer them an apology for overthrowing their democratically elected president (from our embassy) in 1953 and installing the murderous, torturing Shah.

Or, why not apologize for us blowing their civilian airplane out of the sky? Remember that?

If you think 'death to america' is a problem then what do you make of Mcain's "Bomb Iran?" You liked it, didn't you?
We can have good relations with them if we choose - god knows bush is good friends with the slave driving chinese.

Well, that s what they might or might not believe in, but the truth is that Iran does not seek their understanding but wants to be acknowledged as a powerful country. Iran pocesses the power and can cause a threat on the safety of the US government and people. Irani president is determined on being one of the most powerful nations in the world. We just have to wait and see.........

do Neo-cons believe they can get everything by force without creating millions of enemies? Or is it part of their plan to kill all opposition?

It is not impossible to create a situation whereby the Iranians and the US are at least not enemies and begin a process of reconciliation

But it would be impossible if there was never any discussion other than threats from the distance

the issue with questions like this, aside from their outright silliness, is they divert interest from the blunders made from the Bush administration. The question means that any criticism of Bush is frivolous, which maximum folk be attentive to isn't actual.

I believe that they understand the importance of keeping lines of communication open and utilizing diplomacy as a first effort. I don't think that the other approach that we are seeing unfortunatly playing out in Iraq is the "smart way to go".

I can't answer for liberals and Democrats, but I do believe that we, the USA can have good relations with Iran.

Yes, yes, I'm fully aware of their constant calls for death to Israel, death to America, yada, yada, yada... but the truth is that we are remarkably similar to them in ideology and culture.

It will take time to restore relations with Iran, but I do believe it can, and should be done.

Diplomacy should at least be TRIED. The cowboy shoot first and ask questions later is the worst policy.
