I do it because I don't like body hair. My arm hair is fine but kinda long and it like sticks up when I get cold, like fur I guess. I've had people comment on it because it's kinda funny- but still embarrassing. I've Naired it, the chemicals are strong and I had a little bit of reaction on my skin so I just shave now. I haven't seen any increase in density or darkness of the hair, it just starts to grow back and I shave it again when I think it is getting noticeable. It's just a personal vanity like any- if it bothers you, then remove it, if not leave it be.

i personally don't get the shaving the arm thing myself. I think it is mostly for vanity reasons or for swimmers like another person mentioned.

and for the record, your hair will not grow back darker or thicker. That is an absolute myth. Hair anywhere on your body, when shaved has the optical illusion of looking thicker and darker because your hair grows like a very fine point, and when shaved, you are making it blunt and look thicker. It is still one hair follicule with one hair coming out. if the myth were true, all men who were going bald should go home right now and shave their heads..because their hair would grow back thicker and darker. But sorry, just not true.

A lot of younger women, and even older women, feel like they have too much hair on their arms. I would think that if you wanted it off, you'd at least use Nair or something. It would be so much quicker. My best friends shaves hers, and they look worse than before. She gets little nicks everywhere and it grows in thicker and darker. If anyone wants to remove hair from their arms, they should use Nair or something.

I don't think it will give you cancer.hmmh??protective..I took a razor, though, and thinned mine.Like two or three swipes straight up or down the lower arm especially. This left a smaller amount, and it looked nicer. There was too much.Yes, that grew back longer about double but not darker or thicker.Just do it again.

the only men and women i know that shave their arms are swimmers. they claim it reduces friction in the water and lets them swim faster. i don't know how it grows back b/c all my friends constantly keep it shaved. but i would think it would grow back darker.

I've had friends who shave their arms, it looks nice and smooth, and they kinda get darker, but I've heard that is bad for you because you can easily get skin cancer.
