I am an FTM and I am still in high school. I want to go to prom, but obviously I do not want to wear a dress. My mom knows about my gender issues but isn't comfortable/doesn't really believe me, and my dad has no idea. They both say that I will be kicked out of prom unless I wear a dress. My school's dress code and dance protocol don't say anything about biogirls having to wear dresses. I really want to go, and I am paying for the suit and the ticket myself.
Can my school really kick me out of the prom for showing up in dress pants, a dress shirt, a tie, and a jacket (just like the bioguys) instead of wearing a dress?
If so, what action can I take against this discrimination? It is a Catholic school, mind.

Just me! -- Thanks. I'm actually an atheist, so I don't care what Jesus would think... I care about what the school could do. I mentioned that it is a Catholic school because that helped convey that the administration is pretty conservative and that it is not subject to the same anti-discrimination laws as a public school.
Mark -- I certainly hope they can't do anything. But they're a private institution, and I don't think that there's anything I can do, even if they're in the wrong.
Amy Az -- My parents are not understanding in this matter.
Tina -- I don't think that I should have to ask the school for permission on what I have to wear, but it appears that that is the case. I do not want to cause trouble, I just want to go to prom and have a good time like everyone else. But I may just have a friend or two document the proceedings in case something goes awry.
