I'm pregnant too and I didn't know soda would make you prevent vomiting. I have never had a problem with throwing up during pregnancy, but that's a cool fact. There are more than only one reason why soda is not recommended. Caffeine is said to be bad, but during my first pregnancy, I had a cup of coffee every single day, my daughter is very very very healthy, no problems with her there. Another reason is because it has so much sugar, and you can develop gestational diabetes. That's the reason to worry about. So if you can leave the soda and drink something healthier, I would recommend it, but if you HAVE to have soda, then I'd recommend you buy those half cans, that's a good way of cutting down. Have ONE of those a day, and I think you'll be ok.

If you have to drink soda, try caffeine free like ginger ale, 7 UP or Sprite. But the other posters are right, soda is 200 empty calories you don't need and you may not be worried about weight right now, but you will be in the end of your pregnancy. If you are having a problem with nausea, ask your doctor about taking a 1/2 of a Unisom tablet and 1 vitamin B6 capsule. My sister's OB recommended it and it worked great for her as long as she took it religiously every day. Ask your doc!

Have you tried drinking caffeine free soda? If you drink soda, try to drink more water because caffeine will dehydrate you. I know Pepsi and Coke make this and Coke just came out with a new brand called Coke Plus because it has vitamins in it. I vomited the whole 9 months with my daughter and she ended weighing 8 pounds at birth. My doctor told me that hormones are a major cause of it. Good luck to you and congradulations on the pregnancy.

It can make you gain more weight, of course, because of the sugar. And I would choose a non-caffeine soda, like 7-UP.

You might try eating crackers or something. Maybe drink fruit juice. I don't think all that carbonation is really good for you.
