is it to look good? is it for the sweat to go away? is it cuz its comfortable? y?

Mostly for the look. Essentially, it's like getting away with wearing underwear out in the open, which is what tanktops originally were. Next best thing to no shirt at all.
Many guys like to show off their muscular arms and shoulders. Those are some of the body parts that define a man and set them apart from women, so men like showing them off - especially if they work out and have well-developed big shoulders and arms. Tanks also show off a nice V-tapered torso and pecs when worn tight.
Worn baggy, you can often see the body by looking through the sides. That's hot too.
And nice soft cotton tanks are comfortable. When worn skintight, they move with you. If baggy, they don't restrict you.
As for sweat, tanks generally don't do much. If you sweat from your armpits, they don't do anything at all. If your chest or back sweats, then you can see through them, espcially if the shirt is white. That can be sexy sometimes.

They're not good for soaking up sweat, but as a female they're danged comfortable. I wear my husband's all the time to bed.

i am sure there is alot of reasons but i know i like to wear them to work when its hot outside and i like them because they help show off my tattoos and the women like to look at my tattoos
