It depends on how fast you go. 20 light years is 120 trillion miles. At the fastest speed we are able to go now it would take several hundred thousand years.

It depends on how fast you are going.

More than 20 years.

light travels at about 3*10^8 m/s
There are 31556926 seconds per year

so there are about 9.5 *10^15 m in a light year so
19 * 10^16 meters is 20 light years.

Divide that by your speed and that is how long it will take.

well one light year is the distance light travels in a year. the speed of light is about 186,000 miles per second, or 300,000 kilometers per second. Therefore, light travels 11,160,000 miles per minute. In one year, light travels 117,394,272,000,000 miles. If you multiply that by 20, you get 234,788,544,000,000, which is the miles that light travels in 20 years. So basically, it would take a really really long time to get there. The amount of time depends on what you are traveling in and how fast it goes.

If you had a spaceship that could travel at the speed of light, it would take 20 years to get there. Unfortunately nothing except light can move at the speed of light, so it's going to take considerably longer than 20 years to get there. Even if we could travel at 50% the speed of light it would still take 40 years to get to our goal.

The space shuttle goes 17,500 miles an hour. At that speed, it would take the shuttle 38,262 years to travel 1-light year. For 20-light years, it would take the shuttle 765,257 years to get there.

Multiply the number of light years by the speed of light, which is 299,792,458 metres per second.
