If someone offers you the said nerd or geek just look them in the eyes and decline and say. 'No thank you I don't require a nerd or geek' Say this even if you feel like one. They are historically bad for humans and should always be left at the side of the plate. You'll be fine once you've refused them the first time.

I feel like a nerd and a geek all the time and I'm proud of it.
Remember that 30 years after high school the captain of the football team will be mowing the grass at the estate of the class geek.

I have felt like one plenty of times in the past. Especially when I was in high school. It can be difficult and a horrid time to get through. You know what helped me? The thought that my knowledge would someday make me someone. I would be better than the ignorant fools that had nothing better to do than pick on others for being the slightest bit different. Think about most of the worlds famous people, actors, scientists, politicians (Excepting a lot.. But still) These people were not with the "in" crowd. They were intelligent, wanted to learn and wanted to be good at what they did. I recently went to my husbands 10 year reunion, and all the people that were in "that" crowd, well they were currently working at the nearest 7-11, still living with their parents. I am not joking either. They focused on the here and now instead of their future. Do not ever be ashamed of who you are. Someday that will get you far. :-) Good luck sweetheart.

Yes, I do have a slight geekiness about me sometimes but I don't consider that a bad thing. I'm very academic but I also take care of the way I look so I kind of have the best of both worlds (I'm not being vain or anything). I believe in looking good and also showing that I have a brain. I hate a lot of the bimbos out there that have become role models for kids these days. e.g. Paris Hilton
LOL--- the Tink just made me laugh! Aww, you poor thing...

Yes, a lot of the time. But you know what, I don't care what others think of me. People have opinions of others all the time, whether they are fat people, skinny people , nerds and what not. There are always people out there ready to give there own opinion on others. The people generally giving the opinions, are the ones that are hiding there own insecurities.
Embrace life, live it to the max and don't care what others think of you.

Personally, I don't give a toss what others think of me or what I do. It's not arrogant, I just live my life as I feel is best, being good to people and following what I feel is right - there will always be someone who has a problem with that but remember it's just that - THEM with a problem!
Remember - who ever built a statue or monument to a critic?

I am one and I don`t see a problem. I`m a proud nerd! Why should I ignore one of the sides that makes me me? That`s not real healthy.

If it's school that makes you feel this way then just shrudge it off. It's these kinds of people making money in the information technology age. Be proud you have a brain. You can't improve on stupidity.

it was the worse through high school. everything was so superficial. knowing who and what you are is really the only way to get through it. there will always be people out there who will shun you for being different but they really aren't worth your time or effort. it is always good to connect with a few like minded people. you are never alone in the world. there is always some one out there who feels the same
