Just wondering if anyone (PA resident) knows how to obtain a gun permit...I am going to police academy in a few months and would like to become more familiar with a handgun at a firing range. Academies in PA do not get recruits gun permits, so I mind as well do it myself. I think maybe the Sheriff's office in my county, but not posotive. Any help would be great!

www.packing.org will give you the lowdown on getting permits. My PA permit was very cheap, done by mail, no fingerprint check...very civilized.

Apply at the County Sheriff's Office. You will need a photocopy of your driver's license and a picture of yourself. Each county sheriff may have a different procedure, so give them a call.
