Here's the question: 2x^2 - 8 = 0 I'm suppose to find the zeros of the parabola. When I factored it I got 2(x-2)(x+2) so i'm guessing the zeros are +2 & -2 but for some reason my book says the zeros are 0 & 4....so can some one help me, tell me if i did it wrong or maybe my book was wrong? thanks alot.

2x^2 - 8 = 0
2(x^2-4)=0
x = +2 and x = -2.

0 and 4 do not check.

If that is really the equation (no x^1 terms), then you are right and the book is wrong. You don't even have to factor it; just tansform it to 2x² = 8→x² = 4→x = ±2

I'm inclined to agree with you.

I got -2 and +2 also. Maybe we are both missing something, but I don't know what.

You are right. The book is wrong.
