What a coincidence, my birthday is tomorrow. Hmm, I can survive without having a gift, as long as someone can just honestly say Happy birthday to me. but if i could have a gift, I would appreciate a cd, a book, or ice cream. that's all i would ask for.

Over 40 years old here, I don't need gifts anymore. I just like a day of peace and quiet for my birthday.

Survive without one, though I do enjoy cards and/or the company of my friends on my birthday, we usually go out to dinner for whoever's day it is.

I start telling people what I want for my birthday from the instant it ends, and I plan my huge event all year-round. So, yes survival could possibly depend on presents! ~N

I have to be honest...I like the gifts and it just wouldn't seem like my birthday without them. I wouldn't die, but I sure would be really sad for a while.
I don't ever need anything expensive, I just like the acknowledgment that the world is special since I got here this time.

I can survive, but it would make me sad that no one cared enough to even get me a teeny little present.

Me, it doesn't matter, but if it is a child you need to get them something. It is hard for them to understand why no gift of any kind.
