in december I got my first but am wondering how many tampons I should bring

I would bring maybe a small box to be on the safe side (you'll never use them all) but more importantly, I would pack some pantie liners. NOT pads...liners. Wear them on a regular basis (assuming you're not wearing a bathing suit) and when your period does come, the liner will prevent you from ruining your close ot having a very "dear diary" moment! Bring enough for bleeding that lasts at least 5 days, just in case. Maybe some greater absorbancy and some light tampons.

So, like 2 or 3 boxes.

3-4 boxes I bet and I would just stick 2 pads

Just so that you know, tampons are NOT a good idea in your teens. Its much safer for you to use pads. If you really must use a tampon, get a teen slenders one that is light absorbency. But try really hard not to use them.
One package of pads will be enough.
