Maybe she thinks that you are not serious since you have suggested several other animals. I would do some research on the ferret if that is what you really want and let her know what kind of cage you would need, supplies, food and so on. Also let her know that you would change its litter box and clean its cage yourself and she wouldnt have to and if you didnt do a good job that she could get rid of it. Also, ferrets cost around $125.00 where I live. Maybe you should tell her that you want one so bad that you are willing to do some extra chores to help pay for it yourself. If you can do all of this maybe it will show her how serious you are about this one animal and she will change her mind. Good luck.

Another my parets won't let me get a _____, how do I convince them. If your parents are saying no then respect that, it is irresponsible to bug your parents for an animals they do not want, and anyone who gives you advice is just as irresponsible. Convincing your parents by skipping over all the negative will just lead to problems after you get the pet. So many animals end up in shelter because people get pets they are not prepared for.
Ferrets are high maintanancre pets that cost a lot of money if cared for properly. It cost 500+ just to start. Ferret vet bills are costly, (around 4 yrs) most ferrets end up getting andreanal disease, which is costly to treat. They live 8 years, so prepare to be treating health problems half of their life.
They need 6 hrs out of thier cage a day(at least), and go to the bathroom all over the place. They also rip up couches, and carpets. Is mom prepared for this?
Ferrets also smell up the entire house. I have to clean mine daily to keep the smell at a minimum, and it still can be detected as soon as you walk in the door. They have very fast metabolism so food goes in and out in a short time. They have a musky smell that gets into your clothes if you hold them.
Some people say you can litter train them, but don't count on it. I have five and non of them use the box. They just go next to it(never fogetting to throw the litter everywhere)
Food cost is expensive, they need three high quality ferret foods mixed together(first three ingredients meat, at least 30% protien, and less than 3% fiber) Ferret food can cost anywhere from $15-25 for a five lb bag. Choosing low quality will increase risks of health problems as they age.
Ferrets need to be nip trained and there is always the chance of having an agressive ferret. They bite hard, I have nerve damage on one of my hands from a ferret bite. Nip training can take time and pacients, your son cannot resort to flicking the nose, hitting, yelling, etc. This sometimes causes hand shy, or agressive ferrets. Proper training in a must, and even nip trained ferrets will bite(its just about teaching them to bite sparingly and not hard)
They need a large cage, a multi level cage(most of the "starter kits" sold in pet stores are not large enough.
Ferrets need yearly vet check ups, and most states require rabies and distemper vaccines yearly.
I love my ferrets, they are great, but there are even times when I get overwhelmed with the expense and time it takes to properly care for them.

I'm with mom. If nothing else, I'm sure mom doesn't want to shell out the money for a ferret. They are Expensive with a capital E. I've had my Ghost since Valentines Day and I've EASILY spent over $500 on him. EASILY.
They are expensive to buy (upwards of $100), expensive to care for (the initial shots and vet check up will be over $100) expensive to house (a good multi-level cage will be at least $150), expensive to feed (a bag of quality ferret food, and you need at least 3 different kinds, can be $15-$20 for 4lbs.), and expensive to spoil. They need lots of toys and accessories that are ferret specific. If they get sick they are very expensive to make better! We're talking thousands for surgery to dislodge something you let them swallow.
Wait until you're older and don't need mom's permission and can pay for one yourself. You need to fully research an animal before you become fixated on getting one. Chances are you won't take care of a ferret like they need to be taken care of. It'll be fun for week, maybe 2, then you'll get tired of it and who's going to suffer? You or the fert?

You can't change the fact that a ferret smells and that alone should be enough reason for your mom to say no. Find another pet that your mom might like, and get your ferret when you have your own place to live.

You need to show your mom that you can be responsible. Take care of a neighbors pet for a while to try to convince her you can handle the responsibility. Remember pets need care like people do.

Sorry, but I'm on your moms side. Those things stink so bad. I don't care if they are descented or not. We had one and it was neutered and descented and he stunk. He was also very mean and would bite and bring blood. I'd try for something a little cleaner and nicer.
Remember moms always know best.

Haha! Well I say it could always be worse. Maybe you should remind her of this, or change to a hamster or something. You can always say your saving it from Animal Experimentation!

If you will clean the cage DAILY and I mean DAILY and play with it then fine but as someone who got her son one and he didn't do it DAILY I agree with your mom THEY STINK REALLY BAD UNLESS YOU CLEAN THEM EVERY DAY!!!
But my son loves his ferret he plays with it daily and walks him so it is a hard decision... GOOD LUCK...
