Puerto Rico must join the union already as a state in order that its citizens will be given the full benefits enjoyed by those in the mainland.

No.
Puerto Rico is a nation. The only way to progress in this globalized world is by being independent. Some people believe that we are nothing without the Metropolis, that's because the colonial status is alive inside their minds. Puerto Rico is like a cat living in an apartment the Human is the benefactor but he's frustrated because he's looking trough the window the other cats outside.
The world is full of posibilities and is time to end more than 500 years of colonial status.

I don't know. There has been some debate about how one of the main languages in Puerto Rico is Spanish, not English. So that has been a problem. But it is really up the the people in Puerto Rico whether they want to be part of the U.S.

i really don't think so. I heard on the radio they where thinking about making Spanish our first language, no offense i totally don't mean any of this in disrespect. I think it would kind of deplete our heritage, English has and is our language. I don't think we should make it a state. its been 50 for a while, and it seems society right now is in a stage that they wouldn't be too accepting of it, so i don't think they will and i don't think we should, of course that's my opinion , if the US sees it fit that we should. It will be a vote and if it is like i said before it seems to me society (NOT everyone) isn't accepting of any of this type of thing right now, it would probably be a No from the people

If Puerto Rico can manage to make its official language (as well as the language that's actually spoken there) English, then I don't really have a problem with it.

NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We're Puerto Rican, NOT american. That will never change.

And for the record, Spanish and English our both our official languages although only about 20% of our population is fluent in English.

I believe they should, or America should stop supporting them.

They don't pay taxes, they use American money, they elect members into our Congress. They're free loaders.

Same thing should be done to Guam and the American Samoa. If you're going to use American resources, then become American.
