Double check the cartridge.

Many times there is a little piece of "tape" covering the heads that have to be removed before you put it in the printer. If it is not removed, the heads are not connnecting - thus it will appear as if nothing is connected.

it takes 2 cartridges, a black think its no 17 and a colour think its no 27. both must be clipped in, then it asks you is this a new cartirdge ect. ps.update: Lexmark is a good machine, and the ink is only £12 a cartridge in Asda (Walmart) so it cheap compared to alot of machines. There is also a problem shooter facility on the x1100 series which will help you with your problem

Provided you bought the correct
cartridge it should work.
But you have wasted your money
buying a lexi, more trouble than they are worth
far too costly for new ink, sell it!!
