For the Chinese experience of writing and agriculture, look under Shen Nong Shi (aka Yan Di), the first Chinese herbal doctor, the "father" of agriculture, the inventor of wooden ploughs, and also the person who introduced the concept of markets and trade. Even today we can see the effect - Tea, Chinese herbal medecine, and 1,300,000,000 Chinese people.

Well think about it. Where would society be if we were all hunter-gatherers? There would be no villages and towns, everyone would be rather nomadic. No specialization, just plain old survival. It's what separtes us from the rest of the animals.
Writing means learning. PUtting down yoru ideas to others to interpret creates a learning pattern. Without that, you wouldn't learn or progress very much.
If none of those existed... everything would be completely different.

advances in agriculture let early people settle down and thus create culture. writing let them keep records and take down certain things, like religions and folk tales, which became part of the later culture.
