do you find yourself worrying over keeping up with all the readings, assignments and tests RATHER than actually learning anything. i would rather be learning things that interest me but instead this is the way i've been feeling in college. is it me or does anyone else feel the same. ?

One teacher at UChicago gave her students 11,000 pages of reading for her course. They are on the Quarter system so the kids had to do it in ten weeks. Instead of complaining, they were proud that they were in a tough school where they could handle whatever was thrown at them.

There is a reason why elite schools get more credit and respect - because they have smart kids who can handle awesome work loads. And other schools are for people who can't do it. At those schools the teachers just shake their heads and worry about whether their students can even be called college students at all... are they being babied with high school level assignments?

So, which kind of school are you at - top ranked, or baby ranked?

I feel the same way. I have to work full time and worry about that and then with school I'm so worried about falling behind that I end up rushing through everything and not learning anything. In my one class we have 3 or 4 stories to read for each class and journals to write and I don't even get the point sometimes because I go through it so fast. I think teachers should cover less material slowly rather than so much so fast, it would make a big difference.

no, I worry about me actually learning a lot and my grades not reflecting what how much I learned. You have to do both. Just keep up with your due dates. Its part of college and part of life so get used to it. by the way, the readings, assignements and test ARE how you learn.
