The bees burrow into the trim work on my house laying their eggs. Woodpeckers find the holes and peck open the trim getting to the grubs.........destroying my trim work. Does anyone know how to kill the bees or make them go away. Wasp spray and other pesticides that I have tried do not work in the least.

I have had a problem with them as well. The cheapest solution is to either after the sun goes down or early in the morning while it is still cool when they are all in their nests, is to put wood putty or caulk in the holes. They will die and not get out. For whatever reason when they are trapped they wont try to eat their way out. I researched this on the internet and has worked for me. Also each year before it warms up put a fresh coat of paint on your trim work. I still get a few but I plug their holes soon as I notice them and never have saw one dig its way back through the wood putty. They don't like to eat freshly painted wood. Hope this helps!

The better chemicals such as Demon, Demand, Tempo, etc are probably all registered and can only be purchased and used by certified pesticide applicators. Search the yellow pages, some put Carpenter Bees right in their ads.

The bees will be drawn to your untreaded cedar side house, But I'm not sure if I'd suggest preventative sprays each year from now on. That's a lot of chemcial in your environment.

If they're union carpenters they may be there awhile, but you can call Orkin and have them treat the area for them.
