As a pest control technician I have used a chemical called snake away. Basically it smells like moth balls. You could take moth balls and spread them around the yard about 20 foot out from your foundation. The smell keeps them away.

In general, snakes do not like being around people any more than we like seeing them in our space. Keeping the grass cut and not having junk around for them to build nests in will usually do the trick. I lived in the Ocala National Forest in Florida and after my first month of cutting grass and weeds and picking up fallen limbs and stuff, I very rarely saw a snake.

Try a product called Diataneous Earth. It's a powdery product that looks like flour. I believe its made of ground up sea shells or something like that. It's totally safe to pets and people. But anything that crawls through it gets scratched and irritated. It really works.

ummm...ask a guy to go at em with a machete? thats what i usually do but i guess you could just drive em out far away and dump em in the forest (for those that read this, NO i dont do this to household pets too. just wild animals)

If you don't want to call an exterminator, I suggest a shovel. Just decapitate them, it gets the job done.
