I've asked before about feeling among friends and inter-acting with other people.
But I've begun to notice the immense amount of sympathy and fellow-feeling that we get on here.
Someone's little pet dies and they are inundated with replies and condolences.
Someone has a problem. And immediately people post in with advice and understanding.
Do you feel the same?
I've often felt that the anonymity has a lot to do with it:
I you tell a friend one of your secret thoughts, they might look shocked,or gasp.
but on here you always have little buffer zone.
I also think that a lot of people have nowhere else to turn (except to their "friends" on Q&A)
So let's give sympathetic replies
NO they're not SAAAAD.They've nowhere else to turn.

Hi zara ,you're quite right of course.I nearly put in a bit about:
"Don't forget there's a big Wide World out there. So don't get too hypnotised by that little screen in front of you."
But I hadn't space.

Hi author2go,I'm a novice myself,so I can't help you .Put up a question! People will fall over themselves to tell you. All I can say about making mistakes is "THINK before you press that KEY!"

Hi Caroline and Mummaotheedge!
That's what I was trying to put across :
Some people are too close too you.
Or you have "peer-pressure" to state an opinion that fits in with your High-School group, even neighbours or workmates.
There was a young girl on here and she said that she never knew that people had the same thoughts as she had.Until she came to Q&A(she thought that she was "weird" in some way!) it was very moving to read it.

Thanks again to everyone who wrote in.
You really are the BEST
I don't really think that I can choose a "BEST"
Will it be OK to leave you lovely people to vote on it?
Is that good netiquette to do that?

I totally agree with you. I am more than happy to help anyone that I can. I ask questions as well, some serious, some tongue-in-cheek. I don't mind a cheek answer to a cheek question, laughing is good for the soul, whether one believes that one has one or not. I dislike when people use this site as a forum to spread hate, imbecile messages and troll/stalk people. Some things just shouldn't be said, and as this is a "public" place, the ids who have no respect should respect those who do. Cheers to you!

The anonymity is one of the things that makes YA so great. Yet, I really hesitate to say that is its real appeal.
To me anyway it is the idea that there are so many people out there that are willing to help with the problems of strangers. It is sort of like PAY IT FOREWARD! And isn't that what we all should be doing?
author2go.
P.S.
I am real new to YA and would be the first to say a novice at it.
I just wish there was someway a questioner could change his/her selection of best answer and the rating of the other answers they get. I say this because I made a terrible mistake with one of my own selections and could not change it.
If there is already in place a way to do that then I would appreciate being informed about it. (Maybe in the Bolg?)
Even at that I think YA is the greatest!

Sometimes I cringe when I see someone make a joke out of someones cry for help. Then other times I see a post that I think I have a very funny answer to. But once in a rare while someone sends me an e-mail and tells me I really helped them.I think Yahoo Answers does help some people. We just have to deal with the crap inbetween.

I agree. This place is great to get exactly what you need from people(most times). I mean, a person who is in the worst possible mood and just wants some comfort, they can get it. If a person wants reassurance, they can get it. If a person wants to cause some trouble, they can do that. If a person wants a discussion, they can have it.
Possibilities are endless here.
I love it.
Just as long as a person doesn't spend all day on this site and they don't live their life based on this, its ok. This site is not everything, there is more to life.

This is the best written statement on the Q&A for a long time. I agree with you, anonymity help to be more open and write about your true feeling and is it not surprisig how many good people are out the who are trying to help.

This is a unique site and bless those who designed and initiated it. It gives people an opportunity to express themselves with out rebuttal and bickering. I once read a book about a planet that everyone's opinion counted and was weighed out. We are all unique and have our thoughts and contributions. We all matter. So this is a place to express yourself, find some answers so we can decide what we think and help others with our knowledge and experience.
Thanks to the Hosts of this site for making it happen.
God Bless, Rev. TomCat

It's great! The anonymity is definitely key. The reason for that is that we often act in a way in which others expect us to - based on what they already know about us. On YA nobody knows anything about you so you can confidently divulge all your little gems of wisdom with no gasps of disbelief or surprise from those on the receiving end!

This site is amazing and most people are intelligent, sweet and interesting (bar one or two). THANKS EVERYONE for being the brilliant people you are. I was a member of another (brit) site and was victimised, verbally abused and offended regularly, it was truly horrible! I stopped entering the site and never renewed my membership...yes, I paid to get all that! BUT I did find old friends through it which I'm eternally grateful for.

Amen brother! Way to say it. Very well spoken. I completely agree... I love this place. It kills bordum, you can get an answer to anything from "Why am I alive?" to "Why is there chocolate on my carpet?" It's rather amazing. And for everyone one person who is mean here, there are about 1,000 that are very kind. So I agree, go us!
Thanks buddy :]
