There are at least three aspects of website that cost money. As this is for your business, skimping on this is not recommended. The three aspects are: domain name, hosting, and actual design.
* domain name -- real company websites have domain names, like yahoo.com, ibm.com, and so on. If you don't have a domain name, you don't look professional enough. Domain names are cheap... $50 for 3 years if you find the right place.
* hosting -- hosting cost $$$. While a lot of places offer free hosting, they won't let a real domain name point to it, or "disguise" it well enough so you can't tell you're on a freebie site. And are you really going to continue surfing xyz.com when suddenly the URL changed to sbcglobal.net/johndoe/xyz ? You'd wonder if this place is real company or a one-person con. Actual business hosting can be had for under $100 a year if you have a small site with minimal traffic.
* actual design -- professional web design cost money, and the result is very visible, when compared to amateur designs or no design at all. A template or a web design program can only help you so much, and it starts looking very generic quickly. Rates will vary as there is no uniform rate.
I would not recommend skimping on this if this is actually for a business. As the old adage goes, you don't get a second chance to make a first impression. Choose wisely.

The quickest, cheapest way to make a website is geocities which is available on the Yahoo! menu. They have both blank pages and templates you can use. After you get the general layout that you like, Yahoo! has a variety of web-hosting options available for different prices.

www.freewebs.com
but! you'll have a big long URL like www.freewebs.com/yournamehere
i use freewebs but then i got a .tk redirector.
you could get any free website (geocities, angelfire, etc) and have a redirector.
your URL would be simpler, like yourname.tk
http://www.tk/
