Do you ever pretend you do not speak English and act like you cannot understand them just to get them to quit calling you?

I have caller ID as well, so I usually just don't answer the phone. I have tried it all. I just think it's funny when they are at a loss for words. Just wanted to know what you people do to get rid of them.

no never
they are the ones who usually cant' speak English
what you do is, say your Sargent ( use a name ) and this is a crime scene, DO NOT HANG UP, what is your name, please spell it out for me, where are you calling from, and then they get all confused, and say please stay where you are, I have a police car on the way now to talk to you, and WHAT is you involvement with the deceased?
this usually gets them to hang up and not call back
if not continue to QUESTION their involvement with the make believe dead person...

smile
good luck

I hate telemarketers! They're sooooooooooooooooooo annoying! If you really don't want to listen to them, sure pretend like you don't speak English. Any other time say no thank you or just hang up. that's what i do!

basic conversation as follows: " If you're selling siding, I live in a brick; selling magazines/newspapers, I'm illiterate; life insurance, I have cancer; cable, I don't own a t.v; carpet, I have vinyl flooring; and anything else falls under the " no english- sorry." I also find that when I tell them I don't have a credit card or I'm in the middle of bankruptcy, they don't call back. Or if I just got this number, then you have the wrong one.... lol

no, but depending on what i feel like i do one of a few things...
i put the phone on the side and leave it for a few minutes.
i don't speak at all
i tell them it's not my house
i tell them to speak to my dad, then order a pizza off them, then shout something random (but usually only after I've been reading Calvin & Hobbes)
i be really helpful up unitl the point when they say would you like any of whatever it is they're selling then i tell them actually i do have windows in the holes in my walls or whatever.

I got on the do-not-call list. They don't call very often any more. When they do, I scream like a crazy person and that usually gets rid of them for a while.

When a telemarketer calls, I usually cut them short right away and say I am not interested and hang up on them.

Nah. I just holler into the other room that I need more toilet paper. Then I get back on the phone and tell the person calling that it's gonna be awhile. Works EVERY time. Why do they keep hanging up on ME??

I inform them that they have mistakenly called someone they thought had cared, infom them of my intention to hang up and to remove my name from their calling list and hang up. The second time I am not as courteous. The third time I give them the number to my lawyer so she can explain how I can end up with a good portion of their income for a good long time and they either get the message or get a written notice from her on my behalf. Whoa horsie, I want to get off now.
