Word comes as part of Microsoft Office, nothing to do with the operating system. Depending where you bought your computer you might be lucky enough to have trial version, but they aren't going to give it away. Buy the Student version for between £70 and £100, you don't get Access or Publisher but it is still worth the money because though people might say they prefer OpenOffice, they do so just because its free but if you want to use a program utilising more than just basic functions, well, you get what you pay for.

Vista and Office are separate products.
Vista is the new windows operating system
Office is Microsoft's productivity suite.

Occasionally, some PC manufacturers will bundle the two together - but rest assured, you're paying for both.

I just bought a Windows Vista Home Premium myself and it came with all the programs you talked about earlier. Try putting in Mircosoft Word on the search bar on the bottom of the start button. If it still doesn't show return it.

Windows comes with WordPad which is a cut-down version of Word. Office viewers are also free to download. You won't get anything else free with windows.

MS are too mean to give anything useful away. If you need a full office suite try Open Office from http://www.openoffice.org
This is free and totally compatible with MS Office. You can set it to automatically save in word .doc, excel .xls etc formats as well.

It doesnt, if you are a student, you can get a cheap copy of 'Students and teachers' version for around $100, or you can use OpenOffice which is free, and will do most if not all the tasks for you
