Do you hail a taxi or call a cab?

Do you say taxi or cab? I grew up in Chicago and always said cab, but moved to Greece and everyone says taxi. You? Just curious.

well out here on the island you have to call a cab, but when you go into the city (Manhattan) you hail a taxi

In singapore, we called both(cab/taxi). Depend on the person that which they get used with it 4what they called. 4me i didn't have my own car yet so... i'll hail a cab or if in d midnight which don't have much cab so...i'll definitely call a cab 4sure.
