I mean, they're doing the same thing....

Apparently, all of the women here have been prostitutes in their lives, so they understand it completely and are able to answer with absolute expertise . . . . yeah, I won't make friends with that one, but I find it funny that so many people think they understand something they know not a damn thing about. Now, I grant, I've never been a prostitute either, but if you're going to stand for something to be legalized, you tend to do more research about it than the average person who disregards it.

Prostitution is a lot more than women with STDs walking the streets. There are levels of prostitutes. The streetwalker is the lowest level; however, there are high-priced, well-kept prostitutes that are tested for the sake of keeping the business coming . . . so to speak. There is also legal prostitution in the U.S., and those women are also required to get tested regularly. And then there are male prostitutes. It's not so simple.

All of that said, if an 18 year old hottie marries an elderly rich man, and she doesn't love him (and he enjoys having a trophy), she is, in essence, the equivalent of a high-priced prostitute. She sees the same client, she is paid to look pretty, and ultimately, she hopes he'll kick it, and she'll get rich. It's a more complex and socially acceptable version of a person selling themselves for money and status.

I do not think they are entirely the same thing, but I do wonder why prostitution is illegal...Nevada has legalized prostitution, works out very well. And don't judge all 18 year old "hotties" as prostitutes if they like older men...some like older men who are not rich. Being young is not all it is cracked up to be, especially for men. Good luck

Prostitution is different than gold-digging, because prostitution typicall entails being with a large variety of men whom are mostly all going to be complete strangers to you, whom you have no background information on whatsover. Marrying an old rich guy is different in that you will be committing yourself to one person (if you are faithful) whom you have probably gotten to know at least a fair amount about. This is quite a difference. And that "old rich guy" is not stupid. He knows what he wants. He's probalby quite aware that the young hot woman is going for him is interested in his money more than anything else. Many men are perfectly happy with this situation. In fact, why should we focus on the women marrying them, these so-called "prostitutes?" Maybe we should focus more on the man for buying a sex object whom he knows doesn't love him, rather than marrying for love? If you're looking at it from a standpoint of who's worse - both sides are equal. Don't focus on just the female end of it. There are 2 people involved in this transaction. People are quick to judge women when it comes to a situation like this, but let's be real here. The old rich geezer is not to be painted as a saint. In any case, I say that if they are both willing to enter into a situation like this, then what business is it of anyone else's?

The reason why prostitution is illegal is because those women every day are putting their life at risk by having some stranger pick them up and pay for sex. I think if the man is that stupid to believe an 18 year old loves them and not their money then they deserve everything that is put on thier plate. The rich man is also using the 18 year old as a trophy on thier arm. They cannot be that stupid to believe thier money has nothing to do with her marrying them.

How is this the same thing? Prostitution is the exchange of money (or similar) for sex. And old guy marrying a young woman is not that.

I'm not saying I agree with old guys marrying young women, but it's not prostitution. I think what you're implying is that the young woman gets financial support from the old guy. This is the case regardless of the couple in question.

Let's assume for a moment that the woman in this case is 30 years old. She might be after money, and she might get it, but that's still not prostitution.

What you really might be wanting is more restrictions placed on who may marry whom?

No, a young woman marrying an old man is not prostitution...
It is often a very smart move for both of them as long as
they both have the right attitude, understanding and a good
fair pre-nup...
He gets a trophy wife for the rest of this life and she
gets to retire wealthy at a young age...

Selling your body to strangers on the street for money is slightly different to marrying a rich old guy.

Gold-digging isn't a very nice thing to do but I certainly wouldn't compare it to prostitution.

Well its all about the act of marriage. If the man is foolish enough to marry the woman its his own fault for being so shallow and wanting a pretty thing on his arm. The man deserves to be taken for a ride then.Prostitution doesnt carry the same respect at all, one assumes the hooker will sleep with whoever pays her. So there is classes of people and unfortunately the hooker is on the lowest scale.

Yikes !!! If he marries her he will a minimum of get a green card. It won't help his kinfolk tho. with a bit of luck she would be able to no longer pass via with this. Marrying in order that that they could make-out is ABSURD. as quickly as they are married he will require your daughter to transform to ISLAM. in the event that they have a baby-and it incredibly is a boy- there is each risk the husband will kidnap the toddler and pass returned to Pakistan. This precise factor occurred to a cousin of mine. as quickly as she married the Pakistani he grew to grow to be a MONSTER. He does no longer permit her see acquaintances or kinfolk. quickly he had her grow to be a Muslim. She could no longer stand the bitter guy and his loopy kinfolk and filed for divorce. as quickly as that occurred the father abducted the son and took him to Pakistan. The kinfolk has been working for 2 years to get the baby returned,in spite of the undeniable fact that this is been very almost impossible to end something. i'm no longer asserting this might ensue on your daughter-in spite of the undeniable fact that it does ensue generally. Be very careful. there is not any longer plenty you're able to do or say on your daughter.this is going to easily turn her against you rather of HIM. with a bit of luck she would be able to see the sunshine.

It is the crazy laws. It is also OK for a 14 year old to get pregnant but if a person over the age of 18 talks to her about sex he can be found a felon, go to prison and be put on the sex offenders list. Go figure.
