If everything is caused by something else, then by this induction, the universe had no beginning. Somebody help me make sense of this.

I'll take any answer, be it religious or scientific.

I will also accept impulsive answers, as shown in the "sh*t just happens" theory. I think truth might be masked in anything.

I'm really enjoying these answers and am currently reading the Kalam Cosmological Argument that I was linked to. So far it seems to be what I was looking for!

Keep your thoughts coming if you have any more!

The Kalam Cosmological Argument

(1) Everything that has a beginning of its existence has a cause of its existence.
(2) The universe has a beginning of its existence.
Therefore:
(3) The universe has a cause of its existence.
(4) If the universe has a cause of its existence then that cause is God.
Therefore:
(5) God exists.

How on Earth do you get (4) from (3) ???

What utter nonsense.

Can i say it philosophically?

Well, cause and effect - Karma

Karma

Everything has karma. What create this universe? This question is always widely talked all over the world. Religious / Scientific cannt solve this. But i believe only with religion + science we achieve the truth of solving this mystery.

This question has no ultimate answer. To find out the answer , one needs to have both scientific and religious because these two have one in same : TO FIND THE TRUTH.

So, for me, i will say , everything is a circle.
Die - Live - Die - Live - Die - Live.

One thing that a lot of people forget is that when speaking of infinity, it really is infinite! So if time has eternal duration, then there always was and there always will be. Scientists now are even speaking of multiple big bangs; that extradimentional membranes flap back and forth and eventually touch and that creates a universe. The scale of these are mind boggling, so what happens at an even bigger level? Or vastly smaller even? My 2 cents, but don't quote me, I've had no coffee yet ;)

I tend to agree with the more popular notions among astrophysics that the universe goes through a great expansion and then collapses onto itself only to repeat the cycle - a never ending cycle of big bangs and crushing withdrawals. The concept of a beginning is a human notion - doesn't really mean that the universe actually had one.

Try, God is the first cause of all things. When people speak of cause and effect, Karma, they are referring to man believing he is separate and apart from God and that he has a will of his own. This is on the level of Law. On this level one creates their own circumstances in life through Thought, desire and action. Believing thusly they are then responsible for all their circumstances.
