Have you seen the bored/fed up look on the men's faces. I do when I go food shopping on my own on a Sunday. I stroll around on my own and the closest I get to stress is witnessing others shoppers getting stressed.

Surely dad could look after the kids. Doesn't mum trust him to?

Incidentally the reason I enjoy shopping on my own is cause my husband watches the kids and gives me a hand getting the shopping in the house when I get home. It's great!!

Probably because it is an annoying task (if one is shopping for a whole family) and it's not really fair for it to be the woman's job alone. Most likely needs a few hands to carry all the goods.

Personally, I go to the market when the families are least likely to be there. Much less stressful. Although a crowded store full of grumpy families is a wonderful form of birth control :)

Hi Sue, What a horrible thought no I would never do that!!! I have four kids,my husband works hard all week not saying that I don't.I can shop in peace when on my own apart from all the moans and fighting (the kids)they also add an extra ten to twenty euros to a shopping trip by adding all their bits. Maybe I sound a bit outdated but it works for me also my husband is in charge of the bins and the recycle stuff and that's just fine by me too. But I know what you mean about all the miserable looking couples out doing the weekly shop isent life too short !!!

Hello, Been there done that ! Calm down though think of it as quality time. The family all needs to know how expensive and grueling shopping can be. Speaking for all gentlemen I would rather be the one lugging those heavy bags to the car and into the house ! Lonewolf

I think your question should read, some women. I for one, always grocery shop alone. That way no kids are pestering me to buy junk and I can take my time to compare prices and read labels for nutritional info. The few times my husband did come shopping he rushed me so badly that I ended up not getting things. Trust me,it's better to go alone. When I see whole families shopping, I think "Thank God for this little time by myself". I treasure the alone time, even if its only at the grocery store.

Well did it occur to you that it might be a big family and she might need some help ? What`s with the - why do WOMEN thing ....? Like men have no place in supermarkets ! They might look bored while they`re helping shop for irt - but that soon changes when they got some fool in the kitchen cooking it for them and serving it up ! You need to think before you speak ! And that must be some exciting life you lead - strolling round the supermarket on your own................................................................

SO YOUR HUSBAND LOOKS AFTER THE KIDS WHILE YOU SHOP DOES HE ?
WELL LUCKY YOU - SOME WOMEN ARE SINGLE PARENTS - WHAT PLANET YOU FROM THEN, MRS. "I`VE GOT EVERYTHING UNDER
CONTROL "- ?

ive never noticed that. im usually shopping, not looking at faces of the people who are shopping. I bring my kids so they can help get items and they are the ones helping me eat the food we buy so its a good idea that theyre there for input.
I only stress if they look to be misbehaving.

because they should suffer the sheer boredom and grief that we as mums and females (tho thats not a definate) suffer doing the grindingly tedious shopping for food chore! Now if it were shoes?
