The main answer i think you will get is gonna be working for a living. 9-5 is a pretty general time frame for most offices, and also shifts at work will often be 8 hours hence 9 to 5.

It means you work full time in a professional job, though these days the hours are more like 8 to 5.

Not a stupid question at all.....to me means to live life in a rathe straight n ordered way, be it mundane or comfortable........basically u go to work at 9am, work all day n come home when work finishes at 5pm..(though most would be 8am start) 5 or 6 days a week. Your life revolves around work .........work all day, go home, eat, Tv, sleep, wake up n go though the same routine the next day.
Weekends just catch up or do your own thing.
The same ol' same ol' week in week out which is the lot for most of us.
