I do not expect any handouts. They account for 60% of the US budget and are ruining this country.

You only know what you have experienced and been told. You can not relate to something you really have no experience in.
I have worked my entire life, made pretty darn good money at times, and I willingly payed taxes to support roads, security, etc. and yes even the poor.
Then I fell on hard times, it's a long story, but now the taxes I have paid are helping me out even though I have had to fight TOO WORK, and jump through hoop after hoop to get the little assistance I do.
I work, am going back to school (honors student), I am busting my *** to provide a good future for my child, I am not lazy but I do get minimal government support, for which I also have to bust my ***.
Don't judge me until you have walked in my shoes. I am getting help now, and soon I will be back to making good money and paying my taxes and be glad I live in a country that gave my a little leg up when I needed it. God Bless America!

cantcu, you just took up the whole page. Nobody cares that much about what you have to say. To answer your question, it's not a hand out question, they were intellegent questions and have a right to be answered in an intellegent manner, just the same as yours. We aare talking about true to LIFE situations and many young lady's are find themselves subject to.This is America, and from time to time we all may find ourselves in a moment of help. The questions presented were not to ask for hand-outs but a moment of trying to better themselves until the moment of depression has past. Those trying not to better temselves and desire to live off others is a small percentage. With all the help we offer to places like, lets say Isreal that needs no help, but we offer nothing to our own is pathetic. Many programs are out there for us all to take advantage of to better ourselves which betters America. Just because a child is born out of wedlock, dose'nt mean a lady's live is no longer important to us all. This government assistants is AMERICA, to make America, America.

So should not, are Money be spent in the best interest of the people who pay these taxes in the first place?....Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness? Hey !....were paying for it !

Government is a social contract.
People don't participate in it because they like the pretty flag, or because they think the line of crap most politicians hand is just dreamy.
People support government because they expect to get something out of it. Whether it's police protection, or free land out west, or an equitable share of the proceeds from the economic activity their labor supports, or the freedom to decide for themselves whether they want to abort their own fetus without some dumba$s do gooder getting his panties in a knot over it, whatever.
And yeah, people who think the government shouldn't shell out for anything but the stuff they're interested in personally are common as dirt too.
But you know what? If people don't get the deal they want out of government? They tend to stop supporting it.
And you can talk all the crap you want to, about the flag, about the national anthem, about how your dead a$s grandfather thought people ought to live, it makes no difference.
Now I'm not saying everything has to be a damn giveaway all the time. But don't think people are ever going to just salute your president's a$s out of the goodness of their hearts.
He needs to look out for their interests.

I don't know WTF you're talking about, dude, but I will tell you this...
There will always be slackers, and there will always be people who are in need of a helping hand; people in dire straights due to no fault of their own.
I'm guessing that you have yet to experience a real tragedy in your life; something that just comes crashing down on you like a ton of bricks. Something that leaves you reaching for a blade of grass to keep from being flung off the surface of the planet.
Until that happens, just STFU, alright?
Quit whining.
Whether you are "religious" or not, part of your responsibility as a passenger on planet Earth is to help other people; some of which may be deserving and some of which may not be.
Quit whining and just hold up your end of the couch...

When we get less government restriction we run into problems like Enron. Self interest governs everything. A lack of government will lead to powerful people taking advantage of those with less power. It creates a situation with unfair education levels medicare and other social services (which we see today in inner city schools, and hospitals) that perpetuates a cycle of poverty.
Here is an example. In my city, Columbus OH, I'm going to compare two public schools. One (primarily black) inner city, and one in the "wealthy area." The inner city school has outdated text books which students have to share and over sized classes. The wealthy school has 2 (not just 1, but 2) climate controlled (air conditioned) storage rooms to keep their HARPS (harps are very expensive) at the proper temperature.
As long as there are inequalities there needs to be a body to try to make things fair. Our government (USA) isn't particularly good at it. Look at the major Europe or even Canadian governments and you'll see why social services are a good thing. Less crime (much much less crime) and much higher education levels for starters.

Because it's been ingrained in people by the democrats that the government knows best how to provide for your family. Sorry, but I disagree. I will continue to provide for my family the way I see fit and the government had best keep it's nose out of my business.

i've got faith that company cheer-preferable GOP desires to stress all those under-employed human beings to connect the militia, whether with tax-payer funded inner maximum mercenaries outpacing the fee of stationing American troops contained in the comparable political conundrums, it style of feels greater effective than possibly that simply by fact the DIC contains all those hyper-paranoid-secrecy mercenary prepared approximately murdering as a lot of human beings for "exciting" & earnings as their government employers will enable. interestingly the GOP thinks, (I comprehend this is contradictory assertion, yet submit to with me right here) that via raising the misery index, human beings would be balloting in droves to grow to be greater depressing than they at the instant are via balloting in a GOP majority into congress. i will't say regressives are no longer able to thinking, yet there's a protracted status historic checklist of them attempting to enforce their regulations without first determining no rely if or no longer they have any risk of succeeding in fact earlier they turn the swap.

The USA was the land of opportunity...It has been warped by primarily DEMs to be the land of handouts..
The founding Fathers designed a country that would provide great opportunity BUT THEY NEVER GUARANTEED a wonderful/rich/carefree life...
Our ancestors didn't expect 'the gov" to come running when their crops failed, their house was destroyed by Mother nature, when they got sick/injured, etc..
"Only in America" is no longer a compliment.

billy,billy,billy...is the silver spoon in your mouth a bit tarnished today? while it is true many of our fellow countrymen and women should not be allowed to breed, it is equally true not all are blessed with equal opportunity, or optimum for success life circumstances. it has been said that the true character of a nation is displayed in how it cares for the least fortunate of its citizens. the survival of the fittest utopia you envision may be just right for some. but, the majority of people live in the real world where we aren't able to choose between black and white and you help your neighbour just because he/she is your neighbour.
