because the morning after pill kills an egg that may be fertilized so the woman doesn't get pregnant. Any birth control pill or patch or whatever kills a fertilized egg so it doesn't go into a woman's fallopian tube and progress into a baby.

Some people consider the morning after pill the same as abortion because in the chance that the sperm and egg meet and conception occurs, Plan B does not allow the fertilized egg to implant in the uterus. It simply leaves the body. This is a Gray area depending on when you believe life exists. For some life exists when the egg is fertilized and conception occurs, so to them it would be an abortion because life has been forced to end. To others, life does not begin until the baby takes it's first breath, so those people would not consider it an abortion, but they also feel it is ok to abort late in pregnancy.
Birth control pills or patches or whatever, are different because they actually stop the ovulation process from occurring. If no egg is released, no egg can be fertilized. Some believe birth control is wrong because it interferes with the will of God, but I've never heard of birth control being labeled as abortion.

Some believe that even prevention is wrong, some even go as far as to say it "aborts" any child that does end up being concieved.
The morning after pill, plan b, doesn't even do this. If you are already pregnant, it does not disturb the pregnancy. It stops ovulation & thickens the cervial mucus, like the pill does usually. Plan B isn't anything special...it's a larger dose of birth control. Some basic birth control pills can be used as Plan B, it's nothing different at all, just a larger dose of medication.
BIrth control, even plan b, does not cause abortions. Some women get pregnant using birth control or plan b & have totally healthy babies because of this.

The pill and the morning after pill work in two different ways. The pill makes conception not happen, the morning after pill is used when conception may have taken place and the woman doesnt want to be pregnant(literally abortion at the very earliest stage).
Some who say its not abortion should consider that the standard has always been that left alone it will develope into a child then if the woman taking the MA pill "was" pregnant then it is in a literal sense an abortion.

Regular oral birth control pills and patches (estrogen/progesterone) are intended to prevent ovulation, and thus, pregnancy. Since there is no conception, this is not usually considered abortion. However, there are some who believe that birth control is not acceptable in any form.
The morning after pill is intended to prevent implantation of a fertilized egg, just in case there was an accidental conception. The hormonal composition is actually similar to oral birth control, but with a higher dosage. Therefore, some extreme conservatives do consider it abortion, despite the fact that when it is taken there is no way to know whether or not conception has actually occurred.
Mifepristone (a.k.a. Mifeprex, Mifegyne, RU-486) is currently used to terminate a pregnancy up to 49 days after conception/implantation. This IS considered an abortion. It is being investigated for use in smaller doses as a regular birth control to prevent conception, and as a morning after pill to prevent implantation.

I don't think the pill or the plan B pill are abortion. I am pro life and i strongly support the use of birth control. The way i understand that plan B works is that it prevents implantation the same way birth control pills do, with a strong dose of hormones. Abortion is wrong in my opinion and is murder plain and simple but if that baby's life has yet to begin then its not murder.
I know come religions consider preventing conception wrong, could that be what your thinking of?

Its really not, its preventing the pregnancy from happening that's not abortion!! I am totally against abortion, but the morning after pill and birth control pills are just simply preventing the pregnancy to ever happen its not like you have been pregnant for a month and take a pill to kill your fetus....that's a totally different thing.

Some people think it is because your egg might get fertilized, but unable to implant. The general public however feels that it isn't because it isn't a baby yet... just little cells.

IMO it is not abortion, I prevents "possible" implantation...you don't even know if a) you fertilized your egg when you take it, or b) if you did, it would've implanted..how can this be abortion?
