I only saw the film when it came out at the cinema, but from what I can remember....

They pay before they get the procedure!
The people who have their memories erased when they've had it done before (unknowingly) just found Lacuna the same way they found them last time.

I thought about that too! In one of the scenes where Kirsten Dunst is doing her secretarial work, she tells a client over the phone that she can't have the procedure done twice in one month because "it's just not [their] policy." Granted, she could have been enquiring about planning two erasing procedures in one month, but I always thought it implied the former situation.

Slight glitch to me. Still is a great movie. Michel Gondry is absolutely amazing.

As far as payment goes, they would have to pay them beforehand, don't you think?

Well, there isn't supposed to be any contact. But one of the two (I forget - I think him) wrote down a note for remembering.

And they probably pre-pay.

There's no need to contact them again. Remember Jim Carrey didn't even know he'd ever been there before!

You pay before you get the procedure done... and after that, there is no contact....
