My son is almost 9 months old. He is a really good sleeper at night, but is a terrible napper (and has been since birth). He gets between 12 and 14 hours of sleep at night. During the day when I put him down, he sleeps for an hour tops. I know that he is tired because he displays all the signs. Is this something that gets better with age?

Some people just don't need a lot of sleep. You can try making him tired by playing with him more.

You need to establish a routine.
You probably have a nighttime ritual (even if you dont realize it!) where you change his diaper, get him dressed for bed and then hold him until he is sleepy then put him in his crib. Well do the same for his naps~ Close the drapes, sing him a song, then give him a teddy (or a blanket) and lie him down, every day in the same order. It doesnt matter what the routine is he just needs to know that it is safe for him to go to sleep because he did the same thing yesterday and the day before. It also helps if you let him take his nap after a snack or meal because at that age they are burning calories like crazy!

Maybe he needs LESS sleep at night. My 9 MO sleeps about 10 hours at night and takes 2-3 hour long naps during the day.

i myself experience to your venture. Newborns w/inconsistent sleep cycles are difficult even w/o the added subject of migraines. How is he ingesting? quite some circumstances slightly one awakes because of the fact he/she is hungry. We had a venture in our kinfolk the place a new child could nurse for some mins after which fall off to sleep. you are able to't permit that ensue. you are able to nudge them wide awake so as that they proceed to nurse in any different case, they do no longer seem to be going to get an entire feeding and could awaken extra usually than you desire. Are you nursing or bottle/formula feeding? in the adventure that your new child can tolerate formula ( and the lactation ninnies do no longer provide you a guilt holiday) this might make feedings slightly extra handy. shop him as engaged as achieveable while he's a wake (once you desire him to be wide awake) so he would be slightly extra tuckered out once you set him down. you are able to attempt a variety of land up units that rock the little one; babies like action. attempt a heat tub in simple terms in the previous sleep time. you additionally can get sound machines that mimic the coronary heart sound he heard interior the womb. finally, you are able to desire to have somebody you are able to anticipate while a migraine hits, ideally a kinfolk member, or slightly one sitter (on your place) while you deal alongside with your headache. good success. with a bit of luck in a quick time, his sleep cycle will grow to be extra "time-honored".

sounds like he needs to cut out at least one of his naps or sleep less at night.
