Yes I do believe in marriage. To me it is more than than the piece of paper, it is a full time commitment. I absolutely love being married, I love knowing that he made a promise to me and God to always love, honor and respect me. My first marriage ended in divorce but that did not make me bitter in any way. I just chose carefully the next time, making sure this time that I found a man who could uphold his commitment to me.

I do not believe in the piece of paper that people think they need to be married. i believe in marriage though. My husband and I have been together for 5.5 years and there is no paper here, we love each other, respect, care for and look after, we are completely monogamous and even have a child. Isn't that the definition of marriage you become one when you make a child? I wouldn't want to get married legally because of the divorce statistics. I am happy living under the common law marriage. good luck, you should get quite a few answers to this one.

I believe in marriage after both people in the relationship have their lives on the right track. Relationships and marriage are both overrated.... and i don't think either are necessary in today's life. We have to worry about gas, food, and bills now a days everything else really doesn't matter

I am happily married and have always believed in it.
It is NOT a piece of paper. It is commiting your lives to one another before God, family and making it legal. It is an act of love and solid commitment. It is a vow.
I think it is sad to write it off as a piece of paper. What ever happened to romance, dreaming of your wedding day and sharing that special day with your family and friends? Being proud to be someones husband or wife?
I bet you are going to get a lot of answers on this one! LOL

I believe in marriage. I don't have a reason why, its just something that I have always felt like I was meant to do. It is one of life's adventures that some people feel like they need to explore. A true test of love and commitment.

This answer is coming from a 60 year old man, so I hope you don't mind.
Maybe today people shouldn't get married just because it's the right thing to do. It's seems to me society has forgotten the real values of marriage.
It's not about that piece of paper. that says your married. Its about LOVE.

"Believe" in it? Yes.

Is it "necessary?" That's for you to decide...

I've been happily married for over 36 years and wouldn't have it any other way.

Bear in mind, that I'm not some Bible-banging fundie, either.

I'm about as open-minded as it gets, and so is my wife. We just have a good relationship and don't have any reasons to run from the word "committment."

I believe in commitment marriage is just a piece of paper proving that you committed yourself to that person and you cant lie saying that you never committed yourself to that person to get out of it.

Depends on who you ask. I love marriage and I am an advocate for it. I love being married and wouldn't trade it for the world.
