Women who have abortions aren't happy they're having the procedure done.

Women don't drive down to the local Planned Parenthood because they have nothing better to do on a Saturday.

Women are mentally and emotionally scarred by having an abortion. Your typical woman goes home and cries for days on end because, better than anyone else, she understands that there was a life in her uterus.

"...sick of young girls having abortions for birth control" is the most ignorant (in the true definition of ignorant) thing I hear repeatedly by pro-fetus people.

Put down your Bible, walk outside, and educate yourself with topics of which you claim to be such a supporter.

It's terribly easy to spot who knows what they're talking about and which parrot just escaped from the zoo.

I've been involved in an abortion. My gf had been on the same birth control pill for 16 years. When she was around 30, her pills stop being effective because of changes in her hormones.

We caught it on the 6th day. She wasn't in a position to have a child, neither was I, and we had broken up just prior to this.

I went with her, dropped her off, picked her up (men aren't allowed inside) and took care of her for the next week. She was a wreck, I was a wreck, and we talked for many hours trying to come to grips with what we did.

I don't care what your morals, ethics, and ideals are, when you are faced with an abortion you take a long hard look at what's important.

She cried for a week solid. I cried for a week solid. It's something I hopefully will never be apart of again and something I have taken extra care to ensure that won't happen again.

I still believe we need to have a choice, but it's a rotten thing to do and nobody just has an abortion for the heck of it.

I personally think that life experiences are more beneficial than research on a subject like this. You can't learn anymore about the subject (without going through it yourself) than by observing your friends go through it, and the different motivations and actions that preceded it. And you are right - none of them were proud. But some of them were actually happy - and that is sickening.

So before you start spouting off calling people ignorant - realize that entirely too many people have an opinion based on other opinions on the subject. Until you experience abortion in life, you really have no idea.

We aren't paying for overseas abortions. This is more BS from the Right who want to prevent any organization that even counsels on the option of abortion from receiving federal funds whether they perform abortions or not.

I agree with you. I get so tired of the demonization of women when they suggest that women use abortion as some kind of birth control. The decision is a weighty one that the vast majority of women never forget and never take lightly. But it doesn't help their cause to acknowledge that does it? So, therefore, we won't see any type of honesty from them over the obvious.

It irritates the heck out of me when I remember how Planned Parenthood tried to hold talks with the anti-choice crowd over an attempt to come to terms together on how to better avoid unwanted pregnancies. The idiot abstinence-only head in the sand crowd wouldn't even talk to Planned Parenthood. How stupid is that? PP wants to DECREASE pregnancies so there will be fewer abortions. Wouldn't you think the anti-choice crowd, if they truly wish to see less abortions, would have jumped at the chance to do some good in this area? But nooooo...that would make too much sense I suppose.

Back in the 20's my grandmother performed abortions using a feather. This has been going on for a very long time. At that time, there was such a stigma on having a child out of wedlock that abortions were done quite often. When I was in high school, a friend of mine almost died because abortion was illegal then and she went to Mexico to have one. She was raped by a gang of thugs, there was no way she was going to go through 9 months carrying this child, let alone raising it.

I feel sorry for the women who feel that they have to go through the pain and anguish of abortion. When there are alternatives. There are so many couples in America who can not have children on their own and would love to be able to have a newborn child to raise as their own and love that child as their own. In My opinion Abortion is legalized murder, especially since there are alternatives.

This is why my opinion is what it is.
Websters definition: life...an organismic state characterized by capacity for metabolism, growth, reaction to stimuli, and reproduction.
Murder... the crime of unlawfully killing a person

Thanks for posting, even if it wasn't a "question."

Personally, I consider abortion a "last ditch" form of contraception. If I were a woman, I would never want to subject myself to a surgical procedure if I could have avoided the pregnancy with simple contraception.

But I hear what you're saying.

I have a good friend who chose to have an abortion 13 years ago. I sat with her, listened to her, cried with her and loved her through her decision to do so. It would not have been the choice I would have made for myself, but I supported her right to make her choice.
Since then I have watched her muddle through her life feeling guilty but striving to find love and a way to give back, going through various failed relationships, getting pregnant again with a child she desired by a man she loved only to lose it to miscarriage, destroying that relationship and sinking into depression. For the last three years she has made progress and now counsels young women and their families in making the decision to put up their unwanted babies for adoption. It has made a difference in her life and makes her feel she is "making up" for the damage she did in "getting rid" of her own child by "saving" others.
It is working for her...helping her cope and make sense of her life. It is not the life she envisioned for herself. That is for sure. It is like she is living her penance every.single.day.
It is not easy for a person who values human life to live with their decision to abort their own child. The guilt is tremendous and stays with you for the rest of your life. How could it not?
I hope one day my friend writes a book about her experiences because she is intelligent and has great insight into her own struggle and has much to offer to others who are thinking about doing something to make their own lives easier that will in fact, not make their lives easy...ever again.
As for me, I can't remember the last time I held a bible in my hands and my "education" about this divine human life happened long ago. Murder is wrong. Especially the murder of an innocent. It is not only my own moral compass that tells me this, but is the generally accepted societal norm. Only abortion as an alternative form of birth control makes the killing of innocent life acceptable for some. The women's movement success in this area has set us back hundred's of years by telling women it is ok to dispose of a life in a similar fashion as throwing away a soiled tampon.
Your premise that abortion should be acceptable because women suffer afterwards is actually an argument against abortion. Women would not suffer if they truly believed it was the right thing to do.

What difference does it make if a woman cries for the unborn child she had killed, it's not like someone forced her to do it.

Abortion wouldn't be so big is our young girls had more respect for themselves than to sleep around. But no, eveyrtime you turn on the television, everytime you turn your head, there's sex sex sex! People telling young girls it's okay, just take a pill and if that doesn't work, get an abortion!

Parents need to take more responsbility with their kids.

And everyone knows sex makes babies, so if you dont want babies, maybe you should stop having sex?

Why is it so hard to understand that unprotected sex leads to pregnancy? If you are not prepared to be a parent, you have no business having relations. It is not a game to play when you are bored.

What part of killing a baby is there to understand?

Abortion kills fetuses, babies, whatever you want to call it.
Why only as soon as it comes out, is it considered murder?
Why not while it exists inside as well?

Murder is illegal. As it should be with Abortion. Period.
