I think the biggest reason people find it easier to type than to talk is because
1. You've got time to think about the best way to phrase something
2. You don't have to face the consequences of the facial expressions or gestures
And even though you probably type as fast as you'd speak, because you can edit what you're saying if you realise it's not quite coming across how you want.

it has to do with the fact that you can get out all of your emotions in an organized matter and not screw up. But conversations in person or on the phone can be fun, too. Just don't talk to someone who wants to talk for hours. If you find the right people, straight-forward ones, its a good time. It really is fun because a joke is so much funnier in person than through an email. Hope I don't sound like a jackass, and that that helped.

It is your gift of expression. Some people have it and some don't. I am a deep thinker and I can express what Im thinking better by writing it than by talking about it, even those I love to talk things out thoroughly. It is another creative constructive way of expression. Some people express their thoughts/emotions in art, music, sports, etc. Yet there ae some inverted people who choose to express there thoughts/emotions by destructive means a such as drinking, smoking, etc.

yea that's the same with me....i talk alot over emails and letters but when it comes to talking in person i don't talk that much. it is easier to type than to talk though because you aren't actually like talking to the person face to face.

when you are talking, you are face to face with that person, makes it harder to speak your mind because you don't want to hurt that person's feeling...and you know that if you said something wrong, you can't call the words back.
when you write or chat, you have to chance to correct yourself and think before you send.
