All the article says is that some Democrats feel the US has lost its global standing. It hurts, but its true. Just this week Toyota replaced General Motors as the world's largest producer of automobiles. Why? Partly because of America's 19th century attitude toward health care--the cost of health care adds only $100 per vehicle produced in Japan, but over $1,200 per vehicle produced in this country. Of course the present system helps Republican campaign contributors, but it is taking the rest of the country down--as the Toyota move this week shows.
No, it is not pleasant, but it is a fact, and you are always better off dealing with reality than delusional fantasies. A friend of mine lives in London. He remarked on the difference between when President Clinton used to visit--the streets crowded with happy smiling Britons joyously waving American flags, and now, when Mr. Bush visits, and the entire city needs to be locked down to prevent angry mobs from rioting. Why did this happen? In President Clinton's case, policies were based on reality, and in Mr. Bush's case, on the delusion that the US could return to being a19th century style colonial power merely by bullying the rest of the world. Why wouldn't they hate us? If it was just a popularity contest it wouldn't matter, but we do need the good will and respect of these countries, their governments and people, in order to move forward. Eventually all bullies go down, it is a much more wise foreign policy for countries to respect, trust, and honor the United States as a peaceful, just, and merciful country, rather than to fear us and hate us as an international bully.

Who won the election last time, why because we are sick of lying Republicans and warmongers. I tell you what if the Republicans would care about 'International Community you wouldn't be crying at this time. You are sick at heart because you know the Republican Party is on it's last go round. The Republican Party is finished it has so many scandals and war that America is sick of the Cons. Look what you got Old Cheney, Bush, McConnell and McCain just to name a few, what a bunch complete radicals liars and warmongers killing so many Iraq people and troops in a war that should have never have been.

No! You just have a convoluted and neocon way of putting things. No wonder you think the press is liberal! You can't read and draw a rational conclusion!!
Do you really believe the US has NOT lost it stature in the world when almost every country says that it has. You can't force respect down someones throat at the point of a gun! We are now coming off as thugs who no-one likes, or trusts! And why should they.
Respect you have to get the old-fashioned way: You have to earn it!

Part of our power comes from the fact that we have Allies all over the world. This is important to our military and political strategy. The reason our Allies are backing away from us now is because we have a stupid president who defies our friends in the international community so he can produce nothing but failure. If he was a success I think our allies wouldn't care if he snubbed them or not, but so far Bush has only succeeded in creating more terrorists.

You repubs really don't know your party very well.. Its the repubs that allow and encourage the outsourcing of American jobs and businesses to India, China and Mexico. They even give tax breaks to companies that do this. If you think I'm just another lying lib check into it for yourselves... don't take my word for it. Job outsourcing has exploded under the repubs and is consistently opposed by dems.
Its no sin to try to get along with your neighbors. Neighbors that can't get along are soon throwing garbage in each other's yards and slashing tires.

No, it is not. Globalization is a reality and imperative in terms of trade and competitiveness. If we want to remain a superpower, we need to ensure that other countries will work with us.
