Gafield -

In case you didn't get it, I was listing two hypothetical stereotyped Americans, whether they be true or not.
Nowhere in it did I say "I'm this type of American" or the other. But, looking at your answer, you assumed that you were the first type and I was the second.

It was meant to be a joke to make people think about the stereotypes that make us difference, but in case you didn't notice, they were both "country-loving Americans."

You cannot take all people and categorize them as you have attempted to do but your question is amusing.

Why should we? You're idiots.

Sushi is fish bait, not food.
Latte is just expensive coffee, so why pay big bucks for coffee?
Wine is mostly made in France and we hate the French.
Subaru's are made in Japan and put Americans out of work, but you're probably complaining about not enough well paying jobs in America.
Container recycling? We recycle containers, what do you think we put moonshine in?
Tree hugging is for people who can't find a person who will hug them.
Generous tipping? Don't you have to be rich for that? You hate the rich.
NPR is a bunch of leftist radicals living off the public dime while right wing talk radio is free market.
Why travel the world? I guess you don't really love America.
National parks have the best hunting.
PBS is also a bunch of left wing radicals living off the public dime.
I eat organic foods. Beef is natural. So is pork.
Again, in order to go to a fancy restaurant, you need to be rich, but you hate the rich.
I love animals. Especially barbequed.
I ride a bike. Harley's are the best.
White collar working? Again with the rich thing. You must really hate yourself.
Why pay to go to a blues festival when you can watch NASCAR on TV for free?
Sandal wearers are people who are too paranoid to go barefooted.
Why pay big bucks to install solar panels when you can cut down and burn a few trees or burn some oil? It's cheaper.
Again with the country loving. I'm not convinced you do.

I don't know, but I love the way you put that question. How long did it take for you to come up with that, anyway? I used to think that Conservatives and Liberals wanted to see the same thing (more good for America) but we had different ways of going about it. The more I talk with Libs I know, the more I get the sense that they think of America as being somehow broken. They seem to think that the country needs to be destroyed, and re-formed as something else. When I inquire as to what that new thing would be, I never get useful answers.

Umm.. You need to understand that there is nothing wrong with being either.

You make your own choices in life and you can do what you want to do.. The problem is when you decide that your choices are right for other people and you intend to use the force of government upon them.

Using force on others is always wrong, it is anti-freedom.

Stereotypes abound! I wouldn't call the PBS-pledgers the ones who love America anymore than I would call the Nascar-watching Americans those who don't.

I don't see any positive developments along those lines any time in the near future.....Nascar is coming on and I gotta go!
