Yes, masturbation is a sin- that includes sperm banks...here is why:

The sexual act is SUPPOSED to be a MARITAL act- reserved for husbands and wives. In the matrital act, they completely give themselves to each other for the OTHER'S pleasure- not their own.

By design, sex is supposed to pleasure the spouse- not one's self- it is supposed to be an outward expression of love. (if both do this, they they both have pleasure, get it?)

masturbation, by design- is an INWARD act, completely about one's self. It is a selfish use of the gift of sexuality for one's own pleasure.

Now- sperm banks. Even aside form masturbation being necessary...the issue is more than that. The Church teaches that every child has the RIGHT to be created from the loving act of their mother and father, in cooperation with God.

All forms of artificial baby farming take God out of the equation, and most take the act of love out of it to. This reduces a child to an object to be sought out , paid for and acquired like a piece of furniture or a new care. It is contrary to the dignity of the child as a human being.

Hope that helps!

+ Masturbation +

Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).

The Catholic Church recognizes the power of sex when it teaches, "Sexuality affects all aspects of the human person in the unity of his body and soul."

Chastity means the successful integration of sexuality within the person. A chaste person's body and spirit lives in unity and opposes any behavior that would impair that unity.

Masturbation is contrary to the human dignity of the person and anyone about whom the person has lustful thoughts, and the dignity of human sexuality.

+ In Vitro Fertilization +

Catholics and many other Christians believe that a soul is placed in a human at the point of conception. This is why the Church celebrates on March 25 the feast of the Annunciation when Mary said "Yes!" to God and Jesus was conceived. Life is sacred and a gift from God.

In most in vitro fertilizations, more than one egg is fertilized. Several embryos are then placed into the mother's womb. The remaining embryos are either destroyed or frozen. Destroying human embryos is abortion and freezing them with an unknown future hope of ever being born is not respecting the dignity of human life.

Later if and when the embryos begin to grow in the mother, all but one or two are usually aborted, again killing sacred human life.

If masturbation is against the catholic law, then everybody breaks their law, they have to agree with sperm banks, their laws are just old fashioned for this new society we live in today, life is too short and people try to enjoy it the fullest, unfortunately some are still attached to them ancient religions..☺

of course they disagree with sperm banks, they disagree with just about everything in this day and age, the way that we can make them happy is to stuff all of this new technology and live like we're in medieval times, then our lives would be ruled by the catholic beliefs, they just hate the fact that they arn't in control anymore, mardy ar*es

I couldn't tell you but I should imagine they are as they are so anti abortion and anything to do with taking or giving life falsely in their opinion, wonder when they will learn that they are not God but just priests.
