I can not find a 12 pt socket, the local harley dealer says that it is only available from snap-on and the local snap-on distributer won't return phone calls, I need to remove the brake pad pin to replace my brake pads on the rear of a 2005 sportster.

THIS IS NOT A SPECIAL TOOL' It is a 12pt 1/4 in socket.or as the book says 12pt/0.25in socket. a little hard to find. You may have to buy a set of 12pt sockets but try Sears or any place you would get wrenches. Please remember to torque the pad pins to 180-200 IN LBS-- NOT FT LBS.

I would go to a local auto shop and ask if there is a snap on dealer that stops by there and when, then deal with him, he should be able to get what you need

Any store that sell tools, sells 12pt sockets.
I don't know Harleys, so I don't know what type of special tool you need.
You say you can only purchase one through Snap-On.
Here's their official web-site. Order it from there. I've used it.
