It is slowly becoming a better place.

Today, we have information about how other people live and the means with which to help them. Hundreds of years ago, there would be no debate about helping people in Africa or Darfur or the tsunami victims, etc. Helping on a global scale simply wasn't possible.

Now, it IS possible, we just aren't doing enough of it.
