Let me think there are many benefits to marriage for instance:
Having a supportive loved one there when you need them.
Someone to help pay the bills.
Someone to start a family with if that's what you want.
Tax breaks.
Someone to talk to.
Someone that will give back rubs for free.
Someone to spoil you on birthday, Christmas, and Anniversary, and any other time of the year they want.
Having a partner that is safe to have unprotected sex with.
Having a loving commitment with someone for life.

- having the peace of mind that you're living with a partner that is dedicated to you; who will stand by you through the dark times and not just the good times.
- not having to worry about STDs.
- having a life partner with which to share ALL the joys of life; not having to put up with all the bull$hit and mind games of the "dating pool."
