My battery is low on my Snapper lawn mower, (U1-7 battery).
I want to connect cables to my truck battery and the other end to the lawn mower battery to charge it. Is this okay to do?

12 volts is 12 volts regardless of size.

You may create a problem with the charging circuit on the mower if your battery is considerably discharged and the battery draws a lot of power as it recharges.

The standard charge circuit on a riding lawnmower is not designed to recharge batteries. They are designed to "maintain" battery voltage.
You may burn up the alternator on the inside of the flywheel if you don't charge the battery first.

I recommend using an automotive battery charger to fully charge you battery first.
Then check for a blown 15 amp fuse behind the instrument panel.

yes, as long as it is a 12 volt system your cars alternator will charge the battery. it will not blow the battery up. an automobile alternator is designed to charge based on requirement and not just all out constant full charge. make sure you use good cables and have a solid connection. I would invest in a small charger though, its much more efficient than using a car or truck. it may also be a ggod idea to disconnect the battery from the lawn mower.

Yes, you can charge your mower battery with your car alternator. However, I would suggest not doing so. Why? Well, your car will overcharge your mower battery because your car's charging system has no feedback on what your mower battery's charge state is. Remember, all lead acid batterys depend on the lead plates to generate charge. With cheap - lawn mower - batteries, the plates produce PbSO4 as a participate of the reaction between the lead and sulfuric acid. The PbSO4 will sink to the bottom of the battery and eventually build up enough to short two or more plates of lead together to reduce the voltage capacity. I would buy a new batter and dispose of the old properly.

No!! the car has alot more amps than the lawn mower batterie. You could blow it up or ruin the batterie. Most lawn mower batteries are cheap only around 20 bucks just buy a new one. Most of the time if the go dead there bad anyway.I would rather pay for a batterie an live a little longer.

If your Snapper battery is a 12 volt battery you can connect jumper cables to your truck 12 volt battery and charge the Snapper battery.

NO if you read the battery or the material that comes with it you will find that anyting more than two amps of charge WILL damage the battery.

I don,t think that will be a good Idea,I always use a battery charger to charge a lawnmower battery, If you do what you are talking about you might start having trouble with truck. good luck,
