Catholic members of Parliament received letters telling them not to attend the opening of Parliament. The Gunpowder Plot(1605) was designed to assassinate the King(James 1) and the Protestant members of the Parliament and select from the Catholic Nobility a new KIng. Many of these Catholic MP's alerted the King's advsiors, and Guy Fawkes was captured with the gunpowder. Following torture, he told of the other conspirators involved. All were executed for treason and Guy Fawkes Day became, and still remains, an English holiday- cedlebrated in November.

One of the conspirators wrote a letter of warning to Lord Monteagle, who received it on 26 October. The conspirators became aware of the letter the following day about the The Gunpowder Plot" was a plan to assassinate the Protestant King James I (James VI of Scotland) and the members of both houses of the Parliament of England, by blowing up Westminster Palace during the formal opening session of the 1605 Parliament, in which the King addressed a joint assembly of both the House of Lords and the House of Commons. Fawkes was in large part responsible for the later stages of the plan's execution. His activities were detected before the plan's completion, and following a severe interrogation involving the use of torture and a trial in Westminster Hall before Judge John Popham, he and his co-conspirators were executed for treason. Fawkes's failure (or the attempt) is remembered by Guy Fawkes Night (also known as Bonfire Night or Fireworks Night) on 5 November.

Well on the 5th of november, planned date for the demolishing of the buildings of parliamant - by Guy Fawkes, he was rolling the dinymite, gunpowder - or something exlposive - through the undergroung tunnels of the buildings and he stopped for an unknown reason (heard odd sound or something) and straight behind him happened to be the cops (police).Of course he was beheaded! - For treason? Soon after that there was a rhyme formed ------- remember, remember the 5th of november, the gunpowder treason and plot, for i can't think y this should ever be forgot.
