During our 5 year marriage my husband and I gained custody of my biological grandson. Both our names are on the custody order.(grandson's biological father is unknown, his mother is a hopeless grug addict. he is 13 y.o. He is bi-racial) . Now my husband has filed for divorce (Georgia). Do I have any chance of winning child support from his step grandfather?

Please dont take this the wrong way, but this is the exact reason men should avoid women with children and now grandchildren?
I dont know what persuaded you to go for custody, but im sure he helped you out quite a bit in this process, if you want to sue him for childsupport then contact a lawyer and get started.
In my personal opinion I think there should be a law that prevents women from suing men for child support for a child that is not his, unless he goes to the extent of adopting said child.
This is the problem with marriage, divorce, drug use and random sex. Some one is always going to be forced to pay and generally the ones that suffer the most is the man. Normally I would say yes he made the child he should help support it, but in this case that isnt true.

I do not believe custody of a grandson is equal to a biological kid, but call a lawyer, they give 30 minutes to a hour free,

I would hope at your age and a grand parent the poor guy that married you for 5 years shouldnt be punished if the kids mother is your kid and you elected to take on this burden,

Since you make no mention af him adopting the boy,amd he is not the biological father, or even the biological grandfather, I will only chuckle. I believe you have more chance of getting child support from the gorrilla down at your local zoo than you have to get it from a man that has no blood relationship with the boy. Sorry but you need to find out who his father is and sue him for child support or on the other hand you can get child support from the boys mother. You might want to try this.

No he just has custody and the way it looks being that you where only married 5 years to the guy and that would not make it his blood relation . What you need to do is get support from that worthless daughter of yours and stop sucking money out of Innocent people I can see why he divorced you .and see why your daughter is a drug addict with a blood sucking woman like you that did not distill any morals in her . I also feel being that you did such a poor job bringing up your daughter and you can not afford the grandchild only wanting him for what you can get out of your ex that he should be placed in foster care so that he may have a chance in life unlike your daughter.

If he adopted the child yes. If not, you are required to seek support from the biological parents. If you are old enough for Social Security, you might be able to place the child on your SS benefits. You should talk to an attorney to be totally informed on your position.

Yes you are a BLOOD relative, but you will probably need some sort of DNA test to prove this. As far as I know custody is always granted to the closest living blood realtive.

That is a horrible thought. Custody of your grandchild does not mean you adopted him. My brother and his wife have guardianship of HER nephew and I would be upset if they divorced and she tried to get money from my brother for a child that isn't even his.

i don't believe that you can get any child support from someone who just has custody of a child...you have to adopt where i am from to gain any support

I would say you have a very good chance! That's if both your names are listed as parents of this child.
