Not necessarily. Each pregnancy is different. You may be at higher risk of needing to be induced but there's no guarantee either way. Being dialated doesn't guarantee you'll go into labor, either. I was dialated between 2-3 from 37 weeks on, and my water broke at 39 weeks. They still had to induce me w/ pitocin because despite contractions, 9 hours after my water broke, I wasn't dialating any more than I already was. Good luck and I hope you can go natural this time, I know how painful induction is!

Your doctor is not God and he has no idea how this pregnancy will turn out. They are so clinical and by-the-book....that's why I use a midwife. They view birth as natural and normal and give a woman's body credit for doing what it needs to do...and can do!

There's a very good chance you'll go into labor on your own. I did with my last 2 babies, after being induced with the first.

Hang in there, it could be just a week or two away - how exciting!

I was told the same thing with my second child and the induction was scheduled for 3 days later. I went into labor on my own that night and delivered 12 hours later.
